A hiker was left with 'lots of bruises' and a leg deformity after falling at a waterfall in Oldham on Thursday (April 14). The woman, who had been walking near Greenfield Brook, called 999 after falling and suffering multiple injuries.
However, due to the poor phone signal, the North West Ambulance Service struggled to locate where she was. The Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were drafted in and came across the woman, who had been aided by other walkers, close to Birchen Clough.
Despite self-rescuing with the help of others, and her husband, an assessment found the woman had suffered multiple injuries including a lower leg deformity.
Shortly after, a rapid response vehicle arrived as well as paramedics, who took her to hospital.
