Scott McTominay came off the bench to net two goals in six minutes on Saturday as Scotland beat Cyprus 3-0 in their opening Euro 2024 qualifier.
The Manchester United midfielder enjoyed a brilliant 23-minute cameo at Hampden Park after being introduced by Steve Clarke midway through the second half and netting twice from close range to hand the Tartan Army all three points in their qualifying group.
An enterprising run into the box saw McTominay latch onto Lyndon Dykes' knockdown and fire home from close range with three minutes left, and with Cypriot legs tiring in added-time he added a third with a composed finish from a similar distance. A run of form could not come at a better time for McTominay, with the midfielder set to be called upon when returning to United over the next few weeks.
