Gordon Strachan did an even better job than Martin O'Neill but struggled due to his "marmite" relationship with the fans. The former Scotland international was in the Parkhead hotseat from 2005-2009, winning six trophies and twice reaching the Champions League knockout rounds.
That was something O'Neill could never do, with the Irishman stating toward the end of his reign that Celtic "may have to get used to life in the slow lane".
With former Parkhead idol Charlie Nicholas suspecting that Strachan may return to the club in a director of football role, some of those achievements appear too have been forgotten as fans found it tough to deal with what was, at times, uninspiring football.And one former player believes that difficult.
