Every season of Bridgerton so far has come with an iconic phrase: First there was “I burn for you”, then there was “you are the bane of my existence and the object of all my desires”.
Now, Queen Charlotte has its’ own iconic phrase that fans can’t stop memeing and sharing in their social statuses: “sorrows, sorrows, prayers.” Golda Rosheuvel is opening up about the phrase’s popularity in a new interview, and says she’s hoping it doesn’t die down anytime soon. Keep reading to find out more… Talking with Decider, Golda is all for the phrase going viral. “It’s going to be an iconic line and I’m going to have T-shirts printed and I will be sending them all out to you all,” she joked.
Continuing on, Golda also opened up about Charlotte’s stoic presentation of the words during what should be a sad circumstance. “I think comedy has to come from truth and the truth is the complex relationship that she has with her children,” she shared. “The need to show some kind of love, but the complexity of society and the dedication and the need for an heir.
I think she is struggling with all of that in that moment.” Fans first hear the phrase uttered when the elder Queen Charlotte is comforting her son, Prince George, as she tries to comfort him over the death of his own child, Princess Charlotte, who died during childbirth.
