Greater Manchester Police stated that the force will 'consider a position as to whether police disciplinary proceedings will now follow' after a trainee officer was acquitted of sexually assaulting a colleague.

PC Ryan Pointon was alleged to have put his hand high up on the inside of the woman’s thigh and squeezed, while giving her a lift home in early 2021.

After just under three hours of deliberations, a jury of eight women and four men at Liverpool Crown Court found the 29-year-old not guilty today (Friday March 10).

Mr Pointon, of The Meadows, Prestwich, had also been accused of asking the woman prying questions about her sex life. He admitted giving her a lift home but denied any inappropriate behaviour.
