Gary Lineker says Manchester City were ‘comprehensively outplayed in every department’ by Aston Villa as he heaped praise on Unai Emery’s side.
City’s recent slump in form continued at Villa Park on Wednesday night as Pep Guardiola’s charges were beaten 1-0. In truth the scoreline could easily have been more harsh on the visitors, who managed just two shots on target to Villa’s eight.
It is the first time in more than seven years that City have gone four Premier League matches without a win. They dropped below Villa to fourth place, with Liverpool in second and Arsenal sitting top of the table.
