Towns across Greater Manchester are among the most vulnerable to decline as a result of the coronavirus lockdown, a new report has found.

The Centre for Towns think-tank - set up by Wigan MP Lisa Nandy and Bolton-born analyst Ian Warren - looked at small and medium-sized towns across the country and assessed the risk posed to their economies by the pandemic.

Stretford is highlighted because of its economic reliance on major venues such as Manchester United and Lancashire County Cricket Club, while Oldham ranks highly due to long-term deprivation and post-industrialisation.
