Dave Hughes from Whelley, was 32 when he died in May 2018 in the arms of his wife Louise Hughes after suffering from numerous complications from the operation.

The dad-of-one, who underwent a gruelling 18-hour procedure at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, suffered from a rare genetic heart condition meaning that his main arteries were the wrong way round.
