While we've been graced with some sunny days, it's not always been ideal for drying clothes outdoors. With darker evenings and a crisp autumn air creeping in, we'll soon have no choice but to bring our laundry inside.

But beware, experts are cautioning against a specific indoor drying hack that might lead to damp and mould in your home. Despite the popularity of TikTok's household tips, with an impressive 260K posts, one particular method of drying clothes indoors has prompted concerns about its impact on our homes. The trend involves creating an indoor "tent" by draping a sheet over a drying rack and radiator, supposedly a clever technique for quick drying.

But Ryan Calvert, a product expert at Hiatt Hardware, warns of the dangers of this practice. He says: "Drying clothes indoors using a 'tent' set up, placing a sheet over a drying rack and radiator can trap moisture, leading to dampness and mould growth." Furthermore: "The warm, enclosed space promotes condensation, particularly in areas that aren't well-ventilated, potentially harming walls and furniture", reports the Express.

Nevertheless, given the notorious unpredictability of the UK weather, many will still end up drying clothes inside. For a safer indoor drying process that keeps your home free from mould and speeds up the drying process, Ryan has shared essential advice.
