To really get the most out of your kitchen appliances, you need to clean them regularly. Especially items such as kettles, which can get really grubby and become less efficient if they aren't taken proper care of.

Descaling it is a good way to do this, although removing limescale can be a difficult task.Cleaning fans often rave about natural ingredients such as white vinegar or lemon for household cleaning, but one expert has advised against this and instead suggested using a different product that really does the trick.

Speaking to the Express, appliance experts at Russell Hobbs explained: "The best way to ensure that your kettle is working efficiently is to descale your kettle on a regular basis - if it’s full of limescale, it uses more energy to boil the same amount of water - and to only boil the amount of water that you need. "Removing limescale is a great way of cleaning your kettle, and Russell Hobbs has a descaler which is designed to be used with the Russell Hobbs kettles. "We recommended descaling once per month but depending on if you live in a hard water/soft water area you may need to do more often." You can pick up the Russell Hobbs descaler from the website for £2.99.

For a more budget-friendly option, you can also purchase Oust All Purpose Descaler from Asda for just £1.60. The experts also explained how often you need to be doing this, in order to make your kettle as efficient as possible. They said: "We recommend descaling kettles once per month if you live in a hard water area like London, though people in soft water areas may need to do it less regularly as they won’t experience the same kind of build-up."Reducing the amount of limescale that reaches your kettle means you'll spend less time clearing
