Emmerdale has confirmed its new boss months after producer Jane Hudson stepped down from the role after five years. Jane, who announced her departure in August, oversaw some of the show’s biggest storylines in recent times including Marlon Dingle’s stroke and Faith’s terminal breast cancer diagnosis.

She was also among those responsible for Paddy Kirk’s heartbreaking attempt to end his own life, the murderous rampage of Meena Jutla and its huge 50th anniversary celebrations which saw a windstorm cause death and destruction in the fictional Yorkshire village. "I’ve had a wonderful time at Emmerdale and feel very lucky to have spent the last five years working alongside such a hardworking and talented team," Jane said following news of her departure last summer. "I’m extremely proud of what we‘ve achieved both on and off screen, especially during the pandemic when we all pulled together to make sure we never went off air." But mostly, I can’t wait to be an Emmerdale viewer again and have no idea what’s coming next." Now, ITV has confirmed that Emmerdale will now be put into the hands of Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod as he will now oversee both of ITV’s flagship soaps as the new Executive Producer for Continuing Drama.
