Edinburgh Airport 'hole on runway' causes delays for passengers

Edinburgh Airport passengers were hit with delays this afternoon after a 'hole' reportedly opened up on the runway.Passengers said they were 'stranded' after damage to part of the runway surface was found at around midday grounding flights.One anxious flyer said she was stuck on the airfield whilst workers worked to repair the hole.Edinburgh Live reports a small section opened up on the runway that links to the wider airfield which is used by aircrafts and vehicles.According to Flight Radar24, there is a 35-minute delay to some scheduled flights.

However, the repair work has been completed and operations have resumed.On Twitter, one passenger said: "Stranded on the tarmac at the Edinburgh Airport because there’s a hole in the runway."Another said: "Just spent 45 mins circling over Stirling and the central belt due to a hole in runway a @EDI_Airport.
