A Newmilns man has signed up for the Zipslide the Clyde event at the end of the month to support Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS).Malcolm McNinch will take to the skies on Sunday, August 31 and there are still places to join him for those looking for a thrilling challenge while supporting people living with chest, heart and stroke conditions and long Covid. The exhilarating event sees participants zipline from a crane next to the iconic Glasgow Riverside Museum 100 ft in the air and glide 1,245 ft along the Clyde.Malcolm, 64, is raising funds for CHSS after the support he received following a heart valve replacement in September 2022.He said: "I'm very fortunate to have a new metallic heart valve with a bypass and it's rejuvenated me.

I am doing this for CHSS, Killie Heartmates and my dad."My dad, like myself an ex-patient of the Golden Jubilee, had a triple bypass about 17 years ago."He's now nearly 93 and was my inspirational role model when I had my own operation!

So I'd really like to dedicate my Clyde Zipslide to him."Malcolm has found the support of Killie Heartmates, a CHSS affiliated peer support group that he attends, vital in his recovery. He said: "They've been very supportive of me and do a fantastic job.

Killie Heartmates has been key to getting me back on my feet with exercise classes."If CHSS is supporting groups like that then I'm more than happy to do a Zipslide for them.
