The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is undertaking a significant review of numerous Universal Credit claims. The Labour Party is calling for claimants to provide financial details from various sources including banks, credit houses, services like PayPal, and betting accounts.

The widespread review aims to identify unreported income that might affect an individual's entitlement to Universal Credit. It also aims to target fraudulent monetary activities.

In a statement, the DWP said: "Your Universal Credit claim might be reviewed to make sure you're getting the right payment and support.

If your claim is going to be reviewed, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will contact you and let you know through your online account." They continued: "You'll need to send DWP some documents to confirm your details and have a phone interview." Affected claimants can expect to be contacted with an online request for proof of identity and bank statements.
