Dumbarton foodbank inundated with 'heartbreaking' calls as demand soars for Christmas

The number of families who have turned to a charity because they can’t afford toys for their kids this Christmas has more than doubled.West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare (WDCF) revealed the number of referrals has heartbreakingly jumped from 600 to 1300 within less than a month.Their toybank operation is now in full swing, with staff and volunteers tirelessly working around the clock to ensure no child is left without a gift to unwrap on Christmas morning.And they are appealing to the public in the final days before Christmas Day to help donate presents for 60 children still waiting for theirs.Clair Coyle, of WDCF, told the Lennox Herald: “We started the Christmas toybank appeal in 2015 and have sadly seen an increase in referrals
