Drivers warned about over-looked car part that could cost more than £100 to repair

Motorists have been cautioned about an 'often overlooked' car part that could result in MOT failure. The fuel cap, which seals the tank after petrol or diesel has been filled, prevents hazardous fumes from escaping.

Many drivers don't think twice about it while refuelling their vehicle. However, one expert has emphasised how even minor damage to it could lead to significant problems during your annual vehicle safety check, reports Wales Online.

Graham Conway, from Select Van Leasing, explained: "There are numerous things that can mean you don't pass an MOT and have to book in for expensive repair work before a retest.

But there are also some minor ones that are particularly annoying if they come up in the failure column - including broken bulbs and worn-out wiper blades."
