A handful of tickets have been dished out by police after a 'car meet' took place in a peaceful Cheshire village. Officers handed out nine tickets following the event in Chelford, near Alderley Edge, at the weekend.

Cheshire Police says the majority of those who took part in the event on Saturday (October 8) did so while 'respecting local residents'.

But with frequent reports of speeding cars and revving engines being made to the force, officers descended on the quiet village to keep an eye on proceedings.

Two tickets were issued to drivers using a mobile phone, while two were issued for not wearing a seatbelt and one was issued for having no MOT.
