Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in a shooting in Longsight. The victim, in his 20s, was taken to hospital with multiple gunshot wounds following the 'vicious attack' on Copthorne Crescent at 7.20pm on Wednesday.

Police say they believe it was an 'isolated incident' and there is 'no threat to the wider public'. A police cordon remained in place on Thursday morning. Forensic officers were also spotted laying out markers as they assessed the scene, while witnesses described seeing bloodied items in the middle of the street.
