The death of a man whose burned body was discovered near a football pitch in North Lanarkshire is being treated as “unexplained”.

The burned human remains were found in the Margaret Drive area of Motherwell at around 9am on Saturday. Police sealed off the area and a white tent was erected on a football pitch at the scene as forensic staff carried out investigations.
