Christmas she thought she would never see.Hailey Mann, 24, had been told by medics to go home and prepare for end-of-life care as her cystic fibrosis reached crisis point earlier this year.Her lung function was just 15 per cent and her weight was so low she couldn’t be considered for a lung transplant.Her only hope lay in a miracle drug, Kaftrio.But while the Scottish Government had said it would be made available to everyone in Scotland who needed it after a successful campaign by the Record, the drug first had to be given a European licence which confirmed it was safe for use – and that licence would have come too late to save Hailey.After the Record stepped in, drug manufacturer Vertex agreed to give Hailey, from Aberdeenshire, Kaftrio.
