"Don‘t panic,” the stranger said.However, that was of course her immediate reaction.It was Christmas Eve in the small town of Siglufjordur, the northernmost town in Iceland.

It had been snowing for days and the streets and houses were covered in snow, festive to look at but also rather tiring for a single mother with a young son.Her car wasn’t a 4x4 so she didn’t even try to use it, and now it was snowed in.

She had to tread the snow every morning to get her son to the kindergarten, a few blocks away, and then she had go to work at the local grocery store.She had only lived in Siglufjordur for a few months and she was still getting used to the difficult winter climate.
