Children who have been infected with Covid may be turning into fussy eaters, according to experts. The reason for this is parosmia - a disorder where people experience smell distortions that are often pretty unpleasant.

Parosmia tends to completely alter the way we smell things. For example, chocolate may smell like petrol or citrus smells may not smell like rotten vegetables. This means that the food children once enjoyed is now pretty disgusting to them.

Smell experts at the University of East Anglia and Fifth Sense, the charity for people affected by smell and taste disorders, say the disorder is hitting kids who have fought off the virus particularly hard.

In a bid to help, Fifth Sense and Carl Philpott, from UEA's Norwich Medical School, are launching guidance to help parents and healthcare professionals better recognise the disorder.
