COUNTRYFILE viewers were left ripping into a “weird” experiment during the show’s latest episode - and even host Matt Baker wasn’t impressed.

On Sunday night's Countryfile, Matt and Ellie Harrison were back to present the BBC programme at the Allerton Project in Leicestershire.

The duo looked at how farmers have kept up with the challenges they have faced throughout the pandemic using cutting-edge research.

However, during one segment, Matt couldn't resist taking a swipe at research assistant Gemma Fox. Gemma demonstrated her latest experiment with Matt, as she explained she was testing sheep that were fed willow to see if they had lower levels of nitrous oxide in their urine. "That's news to me as a sheep farmer," Matt said in surprise as he asked the expert to explain the experiment further.
