Corrie's Claire Sweeney teases potential romance for Cassie - 'She has feelings for Kevin'
ok.co.ukClaire Sweeney hit Coronation Street with a bang when she joined as Cassie Plummer – daughter of Evelyn [played by Maureen Lipman] – earlier this year.
With a history of drug addiction, and harbouring the secret of Tyrone [Alan Halsall] being her son, there was plenty of drama for Claire to get her teeth into.
Now, after six months, Cassie has finally managed to secure her place in the family fold. “For the first time in her life, Cassie feels part of a family,” says Claire, 52. “Her favourite thing is sitting on the sofa with the hustle and bustle of the kids, taking Roy on a joyride – that’s all she craves, and her biggest fear is losing that.” Claire is delighted to have rediscovered her passion for acting, after first appearing as Lindsey Corkhill in Channel 4 soap Brookside back in the 90s.
And now, another dream is about to come true – she’s competing in Dancing On Ice. “If you’d have told me a year ago I would be on Corrie and doing Dancing On Ice, I would not have believed you,” laughs Claire. “Things got quiet for me a while ago.
