Bomb squad in Salford discovered 'suspicious item' that turned out to be a firework

A suspicious item discovered by police inside a car was found to be a firework. Greater Manchester Police have confirmed the suspected suspicious item was not a viable device.

Officers seized the car on Blackfriars Road, in Salford, on Wednesday evening as part of an ongoing investigation into the supply of drugs.

The vehicle was taken to an industrial unit off First Avenue, in Trafford Park. Bomb disposal officers could be seen searching inside the vehicle on Thursday, May 14.

A police cordon was put in place on First Avenue. Royal Logistics Corps were carrying out assessments on the item while dressed in protective gear.
