Those tuning in to watch the BBC's New Year's Eve offering were left saying they 'couldn't believe' what Rick Astley did just minutes after entering 2024.
The singer was this year's star helping welcome in a brand new year before the annual fireworks spectacular in the capital. The 57-year-old, who shot to worldwide fame in the 1980s, was chosen to play at the concert annually shown on BBC One either side of the New Year's Eve midnight fireworks.
The broadcaster's New Year’s Eve Rocks celebrations, which were pre-recorded, saw music royalty Rick perform at the Roundhouse in Camden alongside some special guests including Texas' Sharleen Spiteri and presenter Rylan Clark, who returned to his music roots for the first time in more than a decade. And it's fair to say it triggered a large reaction on social media as BBC viewers claimed that Rick had 'Rickrolled' the whole country just a mere few moments into 2024.
