BBC doctor warns of 'very common' desk injury that can require surgery

A doctor has warned BBC viewers not to ignore a 'very common problem' people often get in their elbow. Speaking on BBC Morning Live, Dr Punam Krishan said so-called tennis elbow is a condition many think is sports-related.Yet in fact it can a lot of people - from those working at a desk all day to cleaners and gardeners.

And she warns it is not something you should ignore.Tennis elbow can occurs if you have pain around the outside of your elbow when you lift or bend your arm, when gripping objects or moving your wrist.

It got its name because it's a common sports injury for people who play tennis and other racquet sports.So if you think you could have this, it is important that you see your GP - as it can sometimes require surgery.

It arose as Dr Krishan - an NHS GP, writer and TV presenter - took questions from members of the public about their personal health issues, helping people with their concerns.One question saw a viewer called Louisa ask: "Could you give me some tips on helping with tennis elbow?
