Amid the whirlwind of scandals at the BBC, Director General Tim Davie has finally spoken out. Recently hammered by multiple controversies including Huw Edwards's legal issues and The One Show's Jermaine Jenas's sacking due to inappropriate conduct, not to mention the chaos surrounding Strictly Come Dancing, Tim has acknowledged the turbulent times in an all-staff memo.
He described the latest events as "shocking" and said that the corporation had important takeaways to improve workplace culture.
In his address to BBC staff, Tim remarked: "Aside from the challenges of delivering such brilliant output, I want to acknowledge that this has been a demanding period for the BBC and everyone who works within it. "The shocking news about Huw Edwards and other stories, concerning some of our high-profile shows, have put the BBC in the spotlight.
It can be challenging for us all when the BBC becomes the headline." He also said: "I know we have all felt let down and worried about the impact on the BBC.
