Works aimed at making Balloch more pedestrian friendly have been labelled “a fatality waiting to happen” by a concerned local business owner.Moya Palombo, of Palombo’s Fish and Chips, hit out at the controversial works - which were undertaken last year after lengthy debate and a heated meeting between local traders and council chief Jonathan McColl.However it has now been claimed that they could be making the area more dangerous for locals and visitors to the village, with the road narrowed and a new crossing merging in with works done on the pedestrian only square at Moss O’Balloch.Moya told the Lennox: “We spend the whole day watching people play chicken crossing the road.
