Ayr United receive planning permission for new stand development from South Ayrshire Council

Ayr United have received a huge boost on the eve of their trip to Morton with the granting of planning permission for their Somerset Park redevelopment.The Championship leaders are to rebuild the north terracing with the ambitious project including a mix of 700 seats and terracing under cover.South Ayrshire Council chiefs today rubber stamped approval of the project, which will include a plush new hospitality suite, integrated within the structure, and cater for around 170 guests.The club's operations centre will also switch from the Somerset Hub to purpose built offices within the new stand.The club's Football Academy and shop will remain within their current base at the Hub.Chairman David Smith, who will underwrite the seven figure scheme, hailed today's news.He told the Ayrshire Post: "It’s great news that planning permission has been approved.

It allows us to progress designs and details without worrying about potential planning changes."A huge thanks to South Ayrshire Council for their assistance in the journey so far. "The relationship is a strong one and we both want what’s best for our town and community."It’s another pivotal moment in our evolution as a club.
