They started clambering on board Big Ange’s bus from the moment the Aussie pulled into the car park at Parkhead. But it was when he delivered the first trophy of last season that Celtic’ s manager really felt his foot hitting the floor.

A 2-1 win over Hibs in December offered shiny, tangible proof that the Postecoglou plan was moving into overdrive. And it hasn’t stopped moving forward since.

So much so that when this green and white juggernaut smashed nine goals past Dundee United at the weekend, it hardly even registered as a moderate surprise let alone a shock.

And that’s why Ross County will have to keep their wits about them tonight when Celtic’s roadshow rolls into the Highlands - with Postecoglou closing in on the very piece of silverware which got it all started in his stunning debut season. “It was really important to get that success so early on,” Postecoglou reflected as he prepared to take his men back on the road with the aim of returning back to base with a quarter final place secured. “I think the fans were really supportive from day one and bought into what we were trying to do at the club - they have given us tremendous support - but in terms of the players, it always helps to be able to show them that what we are doing can translate to success.
