Andy Murray got back to winning ways at with a victory in two sets against Alexandre Muller in the first round of the Qatar Open.Murray, broke a losing streak of six games, defeating Muller 6-1, 7-6 (5), keeping his cool during a super close second set to get his first win since October 2023 and brighten hopes that his retirement is not imminent.
The 36-year-old's win over Muller, who is ranked number 75 in the world has seen him progress to the second round of the Qatar Open, having reached the final 12 months ago.The former world number one got off to a great start and raced into a 3-0 lead.
He missed two opportunities to make it 4-0, before he had to take a short break for treatment on what looked like a knee injury.
However, Murray didn't seem too affected, going onto win the first set with ease.Muller then began to fight back in the second set hoping to take advantage of Andy's less than perfect movement.Two-time Olympic gold medalist Murray managed to defend several break points before getting a break himself in the seventh game.
