Dumbarton winger Ally Love claims he received death threats after a challenge that saw Rangers starlet Alex Lowry stretchered off in Tuesday’s Challenge Cup tie.
The Sons forward was booked for lunging in on the 19-year-old in the final minute of the 7-0 thrashing but insists he would never intentionally go into a challenge to hurt a player. Record Sport has learned the SFA compliance officer has opted not to take any action against the 31-year-old despite being aware of the incident.
But Love was slammed by Gers B team coach David McCallum after the match - and has been the target of threats online. The former Clyde, Brechin and Albion Rovers player said: “I want to put out there after death threats and people online asking me to die over this tackle - I hope Alex is ok.
By no means would I want to deliberately injure anyone. Rangers are waiting to discover the extent of Lowry’s injury. But B boss McCallum was furious after the whistle in Tuesday’s clash at the Dumbarton Football Stadium.
