‘Abe’ review: A blissful coming-of-age story, with food porn

Twelve-year-old Abe has a background you can only find in a city as culturally vibrant as New York. “I’m half Palestinian-Muslim, and then half Israeli-Jewish and then American-Brooklyn,” he says in one breath. “And Gryffindor!” The title character of the sweet new movie “Abe,” played by a deep-feeling Noah Schnapp from “Stranger Things,” is also enamored with food.

He has a cooking blog, Abecooks, where he experiments with off-kilter creations such as ramen tacos. “Cooking is way better than talking to offline human beings,” the mixed-up introvert believes.
