In the fall, Yung Lean will embark on his first major international tour behind his two most recent albums, May 2020’s Starz and this past April’s Stardust.
He’ll be capitalizing on a recent renaissance in appreciation for the Stockholm rapper, due in part to both the meteoric rise of his Drain Gang colleagues and the renewed vitality of his 2013 breakout single, “Ginseng Strip 2002,” released when he was only 16.
The intercontinental run will also mark his first North American shows since the onset of the global pandemic. At midnight, with just under six weeks left before the Starz/Stardust tour kicks off in Cologne, Germany, Lean shared two new tracks — “Lazy Summer Day” and “Chinese Restaurant” — in the form of a double single.
Produced by Frank Ocean collaborator Rami Dawod (one half of Jarami opposite Jacob Olofsson), the new tracks are classic Lean fare, pairing his seemingly stream-of-consciousness flow with Dawod’s slippery instrumentals to capture the shimmering ephemerality of a midsummer afternoon.
