Boris Johnson
Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak are battling it out to become the next leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.The Foreign Secretary and former Chancellor of the Exchequer will go head-to-head for the third time since they made it into the last two of the contest.Truss is the favourite to take over from Boris Johnson and get the keys to Number 10 Downing Street.Conservative Party members will start to receive their ballot papers this week with the winner eventually announced on Monday, September 5.Sunak will be looking to close the gap on Truss as postal ballots begin to drop on doormats.The former chancellor, who has strongly criticised his rival for promising "morally wrong" tax and spending plans which would increase borrowing, dismissed suggestions his own plan to cut income tax was motivated by the need to gain ground in the election.Truss has promised around £30 billion of tax cuts within weeks of taking office if she wins, as part of a package to help people struggling with the rising cost of living.The two Tory candidates will face off on live TV later this week when they take part in the Sky News debate.Kay Burley will moderate the contest between Sunak and Truss on Thursday, August 4 at 8pm.It comes following the BBC and Talk TV debates last week.The programme will be available to view on Sky News channel 501, on Freeview channel 233 and Freesat channel 202.It will also be streamed live on YouTube.
