Boris Johnson
Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

Rishi Sunak marginally less unpopular than Liz Truss, according to Scottish voters

Rishi Sunak is narrowly less unpopular than Liz Truss in Scotland, according to a new poll. Three in five Scots have an unfavourable opinion of each of the two candidates to be Prime Minister, with 60 per cent unfavourable towards Liz Truss and 59 per cent unfavourable towards Rishi Sunak.

While neither of the Conservative leadership candidates is very popular, both are an improvement on Scottish public opinion of Boris Johnson, who is disliked by 74 per cent of Scots according to the poll.New research by Ipsos, sampled in the weekend before the Scottish Tory leadership hustings 12th-15th August, found one in five Scots (19 per cent) have a favourable opinion of Rishi Sunak, while 15 per cent have a favourable opinion of Liz Truss and 14 per cent a favourable opinion of Boris Johnson.Digging into the figures it appears that the former chancellor is better favoured by Scottish Conservatives than Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, who makes great play of her Scottish childhood, part of which was spent in Paisley.Among those who voted Conservative at the 2021 Scottish Parliament elections, Rishi Sunak leads Liz Truss by 55 per cent to 45 per cent.

In UK-wide polls of Conservative members Truss is seen as the runaway winner of the Tory leadership race.According to a YouGov poll for Sky News this week the Foreign Secretary a 32-point lead over rival Rishi Sunak.The survey suggested 66 per cent of members are voting for Truss and 34 per cent are backing Sunak, once those who do not know or will not vote are excluded.
