Manchester United will be looking to put a sobering derby defeat behind them tonight as they take on Newcastle in the Carabao Cup.

The game is notable for being a rerun of last year's final in which United came out on top after 2-0 victory. It's not been the season many United fans would have envisioned so far with Sunday's 3-0 defeat to City leaving United 10th in the table with five top flight defeats already.

But fans will be hoping for a reprieve from Premier League woes when they take on Eddie Howe's team tonight. Erik ten Hag's biggest success since moving to United has come in the Carabao Cup and so he will be hoping his team can regain form in a competition they won last season.

Casemiro, who has missed the last three games through injury and suspension, could return tonight while Aaron Wan-Bissaka has returned to training but the tie with the Magpies could come too soon.
