Covid infection levels in the UK are reaching a record high which may lead to more people testing themselves if they experience any symptoms of the virus.

Despite universal free testing in the UK ending over the weekend in England, tests are still available for free in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

When taking a test, you may notice a faint line on a lateral flow test. While it is common knowledge that thick red lines on both the C and T section of a test means a positive result, what does it mean if there is a line so faint you can hardly see it.

"Result lines may appear smudged or faint, but they are still valid results and must be reported," the government website says.
