manchestereveningnews.co.ukWigan and Leigh’s drug and alcohol rehabilitation service is running on a ‘skeleton staff’, say striking workers who argue they wouldn’t be happy for their family or friends to use the service.
Nearly 30 workers walked out on strike last week – the most recent step action in a long-running dispute with their employers.
They say the charity has failed to keep pay rates the same as those who work in the NHS – leaving staff demoralised and with overly heavy workloads.
And they’ve levelled fresh criticism of the charity for its £140,000 rebrand – where it changed its name from Addaction to We Are With You – while the union dispute has rumbled on, getting support from Labour deputy leadership candidate Angela Rayner in the process.
