'We tried the kids eat for £1 offer at Asda and I was gobsmacked'

If there's one way to grab the attention of parents it's by giving them a way to save money. The summer holidays have always been an expensive affair and that was before the cost of living crisis that's left many families struggling to make ends meet.

So it's not surprising that the words 'kids eat free' or 'kids eat for a quid' are music to the ears of cash-strapped parents. It all sounds wonderful that kids eat free, but when you find out it doesn't include a drink, it only applies to under 8s, and mum or dad have to spend at least a tenner each to qualify for the offer, it soon loses its appeal.

It might well make for a decent saving, but if you're watching every penny, then for many it's simply not realistic. However, find the right place, like we did this week, and you could be onto a winner.
