A Perthshire woman is set to complete a 231 mile-long ‘virtual walk’ to raise money for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA).

Valerie Gill’s tremendous trek is the equivalent of her walking from her home at Perth Airport, where SCAA is based, to John O’Groats at the tip of the north coast of Scotland.

The Perth High School office worker is alternating between walking around her garden, on a treadmill and around her neighbourhood with her two dogs, as part of her one piece of exercise a day.She is aiming to complete the journey in 14 days - which equates to an astonishing 14 miles per day.Valerie’s initial target of £250 has been blown out the water thanks to generous donators, with her total at £695 when the PA went to press yesterday.
