Vaccine milestone for Renfrewshire as half of population receive booster jab

Half the population in Renfrewshire have received their booster vaccine as almost 80,000 people roll up their sleeves to beat the winter wave of Omicron spreading through the area.A total of 78,572 people aged 12 and over have now had their third covid jab - exactly 50 per cent of the local authority’s population.The vaccine milestone comes as the new Omicron variant continues to spread quickly, with cases doubling since the beginning of December.In the week from December 1 to December 7, there were 772 positive cases in Renfrewshire, with the seven-day test positivity rate per 100,000 population recorded as 430.3.Don't miss the latest headlines from around Renfrewshire.
