Threave Rovers’ under eight girls team played their first ever match on Sunday. They faced St Cuthbert Wanderers’ 2018 boys team in a friendly at Birkland Road wearing new strips sponsored by women’s football coach and advocate, Paul Ironmonger.

The Threave girls displayed enthusiasm and determination but, despite their spirited effort, the experienced Saints boys secured victory.

The match was a resounding success, with both teams thoroughly enjoying the game and eagerly anticipating a rematch in Kirkcudbright.
