As police pulled the body of Scott Anderton from the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, three teenagers stood nearby - filming the scene on their phones.

To them, the 33-year-old was a 'complete stranger'. But hours earlier they had lured him from Leigh town centre to a quiet spot by the side of the water.

There, on the morning of March 25, they subjected the young father to a "horrific" act of sustained violence. They then pushed him into the canal.
