The Weeknd and Lily Rose-Depp are teaming up for the “sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood.” The 32-year-old entertainer first premiered the trailer for his upcoming HBO project during the opening night of his After Hours Til Dawn tour over the weekend.
Via HBO, the show is “set against the backdrop of the music industry” and “centers on a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult, who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol.” Click inside to watch the trailer… The Weeknd co-created the show with Sam Levinson, of HBO’s Euphoria, and Reza Fahim.
The series was directed by The Girlfriend Experience‘s Amy Seimetz and was filmed in and around Los Angeles. “When the multi-talented Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye, Reza Fahim and Sam Levinson brought us The Idol, it was clear their subversive, revelatory take on the cult of the music industry was unlike anything HBO had ever done before,” HBO Programming EVP Francesca Orsi said in a statement.
