Over the past three months, three neighbourhoods in Greater Manchester have been taking part in a big trial which looks set to shape the future of bin collections in one borough.

Residents in the Haughton Green, Hyde Central and Ridge Hill areas of Tameside have had two of their four wheelie bins collected every three weeks, instead of fortnightly as usual.

The blue bin, which takes paper and cardboard waste, and the black bin for glass and can recycling have been picked up once every three weeks - while non-recyclable waste in green bins and food and garden waste in brown bins has been picked up every other week.
