Thomas McCann, 49, attacked Yvonne McCann, affectionately known as Von, after an argument at their home in Brinnington, Stockport.

Parts of the mother's body were later found by dog walkers days at nearby Reddish Vale Country Park, Manchester Crown Court heard.

Following her death, McCann used Yvonne's mobile phone to message family and friends, creating the illusion she was still alive.
