More than 1,000 displaced Afghan nationals have been accommodated in Manchester and bin bags are piled high in a drop-off point used by charity Care4Calais, filled with items such as clothes and toiletries.

The charity has also already passed its initial £30,000 fundraiser target for 'Afghan Welcome Packs.'
