A CONTESTANT on The Great British Sewing Bee suffered a nightmare blunder just minutes into the latest challenge. The BBC One sewing competition returned this week with 12 new contestants hoping to be crowing the ultimate sewer.

Just minutes into the first episode and the starting challenge, one of the new contestants suffered a horrific "sabotage". Historical garment-maker Mitch had host Sara Pascoe with her head in her hands as his sewing machine broke during the challenge.

He had been tasked with making a mini skirt out of wool as part of a pattern test, with two symmetrical pockets. Judge Esme Young announced: "Patrick and I want you to make the mini skirt, it has two patch pockets with piping around the edge." .css-16e4f55{margin:16px 0;}.css-1czxmma{background-color:rgba(252,239,255,1);margin:16px 0;}.css-1tapza8{padding:20px 15px;}.css-1bk4jdt{padding:20px.
